THE IDAHO POTATO COMMISSION KICKS OFF THE NEW YEAR WITH THREE NEW QUICK AND EASY RECIPES USING FROZEN IDAHO® POTATOES

Eagle, Idaho (January 7, 2016) -- The Idaho Potato Commission (IPC) is ringing in the new year with three new recipes that use frozen Idaho® potatoes to put a time-saving and tasty spin on classic winter favorites. With frozen Idaho® potatoes, anyone can prepare delicious and hearty dinners in no time. 

“The recipes were created to help home cooks find new uses for frozen Idaho® potatoes that help reduce time in the kitchen without sacrificing flavor,” explained Frank Muir, President and CEO, IPC. “There are literally dozens of frozen Idaho® potato products that can be incorporated into any meal – breakfast, lunch or dinner. The key is to look for the famous ‘Grown in Idaho’ seal on the packaging.”

Boise, Idaho (January 4, 2016) -- For the third consecutive year, the Idaho Potato Commission (IPC) was a major sponsor of the New Year’s Eve Idaho® Potato Drop in downtown Boise, Idaho. Seconds before midnight, against a backdrop of fireworks, a 17-foot long potato was lowered by crane into a crowd of more than 40,000 revelers.

The cold-weather game aired live on ESPN and ESPN Radio on Tuesday, December 22nd with millions of fans tuning in from across the country.

Hundreds of “spudtacular” recipes were entered, but Crystal Schlueter’s Tackling Tater Tacos, with spiced Idaho® potatoes drizzled with a delectable chipotle honey slaw and irresistible chorizo crema, won over the hearts…and stomachs of the judges.
