The sudden change of heart (and potato) came as a surprise to potato lovers around the nation who have followed the Truck's journey since the original tour launch in 2012.

EAGLE, IDAHO (September 2, 2016) -- The world’s largest potato on wheels traded its tires for buoys in celebration of the 2016 Idaho® Potato Harvest. On Wednesday, August 24, the giant spud embarked on her maiden voyage through the New York Harbor – beginning in Brooklyn and passing all the major landmarks in South Manhattan including the Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty and Freedom Tower.

EAGLE, Idaho, November 4, 2015 – After four years on the road, the jaw-dropping, head-turning Big Idaho® Potato Truck continues to generate excitement everywhere it goes. In 2015 the Big Idaho® Potato Truck visited 49 cities, clocked more than 22,087 miles, and raised thousands of dollars for local charities across the country. The Big Idaho® Potato Truck had a new mission in 2015 to deliver “A Big Helping” to charities across the U.S. by providing them with a unique opportunity to raise money and awareness for their cause.

It was noisy in Boise for the Second Annual New Year’s Eve Idaho® Potato Drop. Seconds before the stroke of midnight, a 17-foot long spud was lowered by crane in the downtown area to ring in 2015. Tens of thousands attended this family-friendly event including the Idaho Potato Commission’s (IPC) Big Idaho® Potato Truck and lovable mascot, Spuddy Buddy.
Showing its support for one of the most popular fundraisers ever, the Idaho Potato Commission’s (IPC) Great Big Idaho Potato Truck nominated the Florida Department of Citrus, Washington Apples and Georgia Peaches to accept the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. The energetic Tater Team that travels with the Great Big Idaho Potato Truck initiated the challenge on Facebook with a video of them drenching the Great Big Idaho Potato Truck.
