BOISE, ID, November 9, 2004 - America's number one potato, the Idaho Potato, also has a top notch web site that makes the search for tips and twists to mashed potatoes as easy as pie.
Designed to be as turnkey as possible, the site features basic preparation ideas and recipe inspiration to media representatives working on holiday stories, as well as professional chefs - both commercial and non-commercial.
"Every year at this time our call volume concerning mashed potatoes goes way up!" said Don Odiorne, Idaho Potato Commission VP of Food Service. "Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for our media friends and Idaho Potato fans to access the information. Mashed potatoes are a holiday favorite and our site is geared to make the preparation as care-free and delicious as possible!"
When visitors click on www.idahopotato.com the homepage will open with a featured mashed potato recipe. New mashed potato recipes will rotate in on an ongoing basis. Along with the featured recipe, the Idaho Potato Commission's recipe inventory has over 35 different mashed potato recipes - ranging from traditional to recipes that will knock your socks off (e.g. Mashed Idaho Potatoes with Mustard Seeds, Olive Oil Mashed Idaho Potatoes with Sun-dried Tomatoes and Chives, etc.)!
In addition to the wide variety of mashed potato recipes, there are three high-resolution photos of mashed potatoes in the same area of the website that currently posts photos of the Russet Burbank and the Russet Norkotah. These photos can be previewed at http://www.idahopotato.com/stockphoto.php. The IPC purposely did not crop these photos, thus allowing the complete image for flexibility of use.
Although Idaho is famous worldwide for its premium potatoes, some consumers don't realize that only potatoes grown in the Gem State can wear the "Grown in Idaho" Seal. Both words Idaho® Potatoes and the "Grown in Idaho®" seal are federally registered Certification Marks that certify to consumers that they are purchasing genuine Idaho Potatoes that have been grown in the state of Idaho.

Established in 1937, the Idaho Potato Commission (IPC) is a state agency that is responsible for promoting and protecting the famous "Grown in Idaho®" seal, a federally registered trademark that assures consumers they are purchasing genuine, top-quality Idaho® potatoes. Idaho's ideal growing conditions, including rich, volcanic soil, climate and irrigation differentiate Idaho® potatoes from potatoes grown in other states.
