WARM UP FALL MENUS WITH LOADED IDAHO® POTATOES

Eagle ID (July 2016)—The loaded Idaho® potato is a menu tradition that never ages or wanes in popularity.  Across the country, chefs channel their creativity into tempting toppings that complement the light fluffy texture of a perfectly baked Idaho® Russet. Adding to their customer appeal, loaded potatoes can meet a variety of menu needs. Depending on the size, a loaded potato could serve as an individual appetizer (6-8 ounce) or a satisfying entrée (8-11 ounce).

Versatility is undoubtedly the loaded Idaho® potato’s biggest asset.  From the Boston Chop’s Poutine Loaded Potato in the east to the Idaho Potato Rellena in the west, the loaded potato reflects seasonal ingredients and local tastes.  Chef recipes for loaded potatoes collected by the Idaho Potato Commission (IPC) include Idaho® Potato Baked Potato Pork Belly Pastrami (Richard DeShantz), Twice-Baked Idaho® Potatoes with Truffles and Cheddar (Rick Tramonto), and Roasted Cauliflower Chimichurri Idaho® Baked Potato (Julianne Ratliff). The IPC also offers varietal variations on the theme, such as Andouille & Ramp Stuffed Idaho® Fingerling Potatoes with Sweet/Hot Red Pepper Sauce.

About the Idaho Potato Commission

Established in 1937, the Idaho Potato Commission (IPC) is a state agency that is responsible for promoting and protecting the famous “Grown in Idaho®” seal, a federally registered trademark that assures consumers they are purchasing genuine, top-quality Idaho® potatoes. Idaho’s growing season of warm days and cool nights, ample mountain–fed irrigation and rich volcanic soil, give Idaho® potatoes their unique texture, taste and dependable performance. These ideal growing conditions are what differentiate Idaho® potatoes from potatoes grown in other states. For more information, visit: www.idahopotato.com
