Bowl Party in Her Home

EAGLE, ID, December 10, 2010 – Thanks to the Idaho Potato Commission’s (IPC) 2010 Ultimate Idaho® Potato Bowl Party Sweepstakes, Idaho® potato and football fan Barbara Fransen of Tinley Park, IL, will cheer on her favorite team this season with a brand new 50” plasma HDTV and a catered party for 25 of her closest friends and family.  The menu will, of course, feature healthy and delicious Idaho® potatoes. The total prize value is $4,000!

The Ultimate Idaho® Potato Bowl Party Sweepstakes kicked off on September 15th to help celebrate the 2010 Idaho® potato harvest and encourage football fans everywhere to party with America’s favorite potato. The Sweepstakes is part of a larger football-themed initiative on www.idahopotato.com that shares new recipes, tailgating tips and a fun interactive activity with the IPC’s mascot, Spuddy Buddy.  This party-planning resource will be up on the website through the Super Bowl.  The contest closed on November 24th and drew in an astounding 19,153 entries!

“We‘re extremely pleased with the number of people who visited the IPC’s website and entered the Sweepstakes.  It was an incredible turnout and we’re thrilled to award this prize to Mrs. Fransen and help her host her own gathering with plenty of Idaho® potato-inspired dishes on game day,” said Frank Muir, President and CEO, IPC.  “We hope that Idaho® potatoes are the MVP at bowl parties across the country this year!”

“I knew I had a lifelong love of Idaho® potatoes for a reason!” said Barbara Fransen. “I’m so thrilled to win this amazing prize that I can share with my family and friends. My husband has already measured the entertainment unit to make sure the TV fits! Thank you, Idaho Potato Commission!”

The Idaho Potato Commission is a state agency that is primarily responsible for expanding the markets for Idaho-grown potatoes through advertising, promotion and research. The Commission also protects the use of the "Idaho® potato" and "Grown in Idaho®" seals, which are federally registered Certification Marks that belong to the IPC.  These Marks ensure that consumers are purchasing potatoes that have been grown in the state of Idaho.
