How many generations?
I'm a 5th generation farmer in Idaho. Grandfather on my Mom’s side of the family moved to Idaho in 1926 and raised potatoes East of Jerome toward Eden. They had raised potatoes in Colorado previously. The Ambrose’s had been kicking around Idaho since the late 1890s . They had a delivery stable and a stage. All were in the Jerome area.
I'm proud to be a farmer because... farmers are the salt of the earth. There is no one who can handle adversity like we can. It’s been a good life and I have met a lot of people who have helped shape my life. I consider myself real lucky.
My favorite way to eat a potato: Baked potato. I like a good baker. I like them all ways. Butter and chives, chili, onions and cheese.
Established in 1937, the Idaho Potato Commission (IPC) is a state agency that is responsible for promoting and protecting the famous "Grown in Idaho®" seal, a federally registered trademark that assures consumers they are purchasing genuine, top-quality Idaho® potatoes. Idaho's ideal growing conditions, including rich, volcanic soil, climate and irrigation differentiate Idaho® potatoes from potatoes grown in other states.
