Why do you love being an Idaho Farmer?
I grew up farming and ranching with my parents and grandparents so I guess you could say it's in my blood. My siblings would agree. Several times a year we all pull together as a family with our parents and kids, the next generation, to work and tend to the cattle and the crops. I enjoy the whole process from preparing the ground, planting the seeds, tending to the growing crops, harvesting, and lastly the fall when you can reflect on the ups and downs of the growing season. There is always something to learn and improve upon so I’m always growing as an individual right along with the crops. We are very fortunate to farm in rich volcanic soil that produces amazing “Famous Idaho Potatoes”. Potatoes are an affordable, nutritious, and diverse food item that can pair with most anything. Potatoes are a staple in our home and many meals are enjoyed over plates of hot steaming mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, hashbrowns, etc., so it’s fulfilling to be able to provide that for other families near and far.
Favorite way to eat an Idaho potato?
I always love a hot baked potato with butter and sour cream, but also enjoy a plate of hot steaming mashed potatoes and gravy paired with roast, all home grown and raised right here on the farm.
