EAGLE, Idaho, December 19, 2013—The Idaho Potato Commission (IPC) is celebrating the holiday season in style with help from some of the country’s most beloved food bloggers – home chefs who are creating inspirational new menu ideas using Idaho® potatoes! Consumers will be able to view instructional step-by-step recipe demo videos from blogger/home chefs Nicole Presley of Presley’s Pantry, Sara O’Donnell of Average Betty, as well as La Fuji Mama, Geez Louise and more on idahopotato.com and the IPC’s YouTube channel.
“For the past three months, these outstanding home chefs have created some amazing presentations that demonstrate the versatility of potatoes and range of recipes available for the holiday season,” said Don Odiorne, Vice President, Foodservice, IPC. “Their recipes span all potato varieties and include ethnic dishes, vegetarian options, casseroles and cut fries that are perfect for entertaining during holiday season gatherings.”
A few of the recipes to look forward to this holiday season:
Nicole Presley of Presley’s Pantry is hailed by the Los Angeles Times as having “hands down the most original” video series in food blogging. For the Idaho® potato video series, she demonstrates easy-to-make potato recipes to fuel holiday festivities with Mexican Potatoes Au Gratin: Papas Gratinadas, a dish that combines traditional spuds with a kick of Anaheim chile peppers, using Idaho® russet potatoes.
The whimsical video style of Average Betty’s Sara O’Donnell brings her twist on a traditional dessert with Spudnuts. This potato jelly donut recipe uses Idaho® potatoes and Idaho’s state fruit – the huckleberry – transforming a traditional dessert food into an interesting and delicious combination. In this episode, she also whips up a tasty egg-based Idaho® Potato Sausage Frittata, a simple creation that can be prepared using almost anything in the kitchen.
