Calling All Home Cooks! Idaho Potato Commission's "Recipe of the Month" Photo Contest Continues
EAGLE, ID, August 12, 2011—The Idaho Potato Commission (IPC) kicked off the year with its first “Recipe of the Month” Photo Contest, summoning shutterbugs to cook, point, click and eat! Idaho® potato lovers from coast to coast have been up to the challenge and to date the seven winners hailing from Florida, Texas, Washington, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and California have each won a $250 cash prize.

All photo submissions are judged by a panel of experts, who are looking for originality, a creative composition and overall appeal. Here are some quick tips to catch the judges’ eyes:
- Lighting: Bright, natural light works best. If possible, set your dish next to a sunny window and turn off the flash setting before you snap the photo.
- Keep it clean: Wipe the edges of the plate and the space around the food -- smudges and crumbs aren't appealing!
- Props: For a more interesting shot, try placing a few notable ingredients around the dish or in the background -- just as long as it isn't too cluttered.
- Plating: Decorative plates and serving dishes can add to the ambiance of the photo, as long as it doesn't clash. Let the food be the star!
